Game 9 - Oct. 24:  vs. Northville

Game 7 - Oct. 10:  vs. Waterford Mott

(click for pictures)                                             Score:  MOTT 34  WLN  28

It was a hard fought battle that could have gone either way as the Knights unfortunately fell 7 points short of a victory against Mott.

As one player said after the game, "We played our butts off!" (Nicer word inserted.) Not due to a lack of effort, the Knights only put up 7 points in the first half from a 17 yard run by Aaron Kapeluch and a good PAT by Ben Cosgrove.

The second half was more eventful for the Knights as Kapeluch set up to punt, but instead threw a pass to Cam Nash for a first down, which would result in a 3 yard touchdown pass from Terrell Goode to Doug Strine.  Cosgrove's PAT is good.  Six more points would be put up as Joey Ventimiglia catches a pass from Goode and "gracefully" enters the end zone.  Cosgrove's PAT is good.  The Knights would see one more touchdown as Adam Chuchla returns a Mott punt 76 yards for six.  Again, Cosgrove's PAT is good.

Defensively, Marco Smallman and Aaron Kapeluch each had 7 tackles, Bo Brown had an interception, and Doug Strine had a fumble recovery for the Knights.

One thing the Knights were not short of’ however, was team spirit up to the very end. There were many fans of our Knights who noticed the team efforts and especially when it came down to the decisive points to take a win. They all got together and linked arms in unison on the sidelines in support of their teammates on the field.  It was truly a site to behold and appreciate in our players.

Not only is the fans motto “WE BELIEVE” but so is it for all the varsity players with one another!

Game 6 - Oct. 3:  vs. WL Central

(click for pictures)                                             Score:  WLC 32  WLN  6

It was a tough battle for the Knights as they took the loss against WLC 32-6. The opening drive looked promising as Aaron Kapeluch and Terrell Goode brought the ball all the way to the Vikings 11 yard line but turned it over to Central on downs. The Knights would get close throughout the night but just couldn't score on their drives. The Knights’ offense stats-wise had a good game with over 300 yards and reached the red zone 4 times. The TDs just weren’t in our favor.

Adam Chuchla scored Northern's only touchdown on a 75 yard punt return in the 4th quarter. Aaron Kapeluch rushed for 120 yards on 18 carries (he also had a touchdown called back due to a penalty). Zack Caskey led the defense with 10 tackles, Marco Smallman with two sacks and John Strine with a fantastic fumble recovery!

The Knights are on the road Friday at Waterford Mott.  These two teams are matched up well and it should be a great game for the Knights.

Game 5 - Sept 26:  vs. Kettering           Score:  Captains 20  WLN  7

With interceptions by Bo Brown and Garrett Harper (along with Harpers T.D.) and Ben Cosgrove’s extra point, it wasn't  enough to put away Kettering as the Knights take the loss 20-7.

As the old saying goes, "It's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game," definitely describes our Knights and Knights fans.

We should all be proud of all our athletes who know the meaning of and show true sportsmanship.  After hearing and observing both the WLN side as well as the opponents' side during many sporting events, it can be said that the Walled Lake Northern family is the best!

At a very  recent football game, not mentioning which one, some fans for the opposing team shouted various crude remarks about WLN.  It was an embarrassment for them and their school.  Now this doesn't happen all the time, but it has.  It's always nice to win, but when you don't,  you just have to come back fighting harder the next time.  As for “It's not whether you win or lose but how you play the game”, WLN does it with class.

Game 3 - Sept 12:  vs. Lakeland           Score:  Eagles 34  WLN  20

The “Battle for Bogie Lake” game was a tough loss for the Knights as the Lakeland Eagles flew away with the win.

A 30 yard TD pass from Jason Tucker to Garrett Harper was the only points the Knights scored in the 1st half.  Harper also made a solid PAT.  At the half the score was Lakeland 34, WLN 7.

However, the second half looked a little brighter for the Knights when the offense as well as the defense kicked into gear.  With TDs from Aaron Kapeluch and Adam Chuchla and another reliable PAT from Harper, it brought the score to a respectable 34 –20 still in favor of Lakeland.

Unfortunately, time would run out and the remnants of IKE began leaving the Knights with their second and hopefully final loss of this new season.

The Knights host our cross town rival, the Warriors, in what should be a great battle of strength and wills!

Game 2 - Sept 5:  vs. Salem                 Score:  WLN  20  Salem  14

Text Box: (click for pictures)
It was an exciting home opener as the Knights rocked the Rocks of Plymouth Salem. Things were quiet on both sides of the field until about the last four minutes of the first quarter when Joey Ventimiglia blocked the Rocks' punt and Aaron Kapeluch snagged the ball on one bounce and brought it to the Rocks' 29 yard line.  With a good run by Jasper Brown and a first down catch by Doug Strine, QB Jason Tucker's next pass to Bo Brown would be good for six points.  Ben Cosgrove's PAT was good.  The momentum stayed on the Knights side with Cosgrove's blooper kick-off and Adam Chuchla recovering it on the Rocks' 39 yard line.  The second quarter started with six points belonging to Aaron Kapeluch from a 14 yard touchdown pass from Tucker.  Cosgrove's PAT was good.  Alex Greer, who led the defensive line with ten tackles, recovered a fumble by the Rocks' quarterback giving the Knights the ball on the Rocks' 33 yard line.  Adam Chuchla received a 12 yard pass from Tucker for a touchdown signaled good by one ref but not the other.  This put the ball on the one foot line setting up the hand-off from Tucker to Jasper Brown - Six more points for the Knights.  Cosgrove's PAT goes wide.  The score at the end of two is 20-0.  During the second half, the Rocks fired back bringing the score to 20-14.  In the fourth quarter, the Knights had some key plays.  Bo Brown batted the ball away from a Rocks receiver saving a touchdown.  With about a minute left in the game, Garrett Harper made a diving attempt for a Knights' first down and got it.  The was the end for the Rocks .     WAY TO GO,  KNIGHTS!

Game 1 - August 28:  vs. Howell        Score:  Howell 48  WLN 17

(click for pictures)

The Knights offense and defense took some hard hits, but in return, gave out the same punishment to the Howell Highlanders.  The game gained momentum early in the 3rd quarter with an impressive interception and run by Bo Brown to set the Knights offense on the 12 yard line.  A quick play from QB Jason Tucker to RB Jasper Brown and the end zone belonged to the Knights!  The long hours & days from the summer of weight training, bear crawls, suicide runs, etc. are starting to see results for our Knights.  They stayed strong and kept annoying the Highlanders by stopping many passes and hand offs to their running backs.

Next week Knights host the Plymouth Salem Rocks at Home.
